Applications – Snack Food Packaging Leak Testing
Snack Food Packaging Leak Testing
Sealtick flexible package food packaging leak testing equipment has been globally used by food manufacturers to test the seal integrity of dry, snack food packaging such as biscuits, tortilla wraps, potato chips and many more.
Sealtick has supplied TSE6086b flexible package integrity tester for leak testing of snack food packaging and trolley-mounted leak testers, TSE6081b for testing of larger size packages. These systems are used not only for regular, daily testing, but also for developing a standardised test method to allow the manufacturers to verify that the products pass the regulation. The standardised test method is essential as different packages have different acceptable leak tolerance and hence, require a slight modification to the common procedure.
Our non-destructive packaging leak tester is housed in a robust aluminium housing for use in industrial environment. The tester can be installed at the end of each production lines. The operators will thenpick a random sample from the line, place it into the testing chamber and close the handle to initiate the test. The machines will generate a PASS/FAIL results in 5-15 seconds.. The package that passes the test can be returned to the production line, while the one that fails the test can be sent for further analysis to determine the exact leak locations or is thrown away.
The line can also be installed with automated counters to keep track of the pass/fail rate. The machine itself is also equipped with data storage capability and allows the users to export the data via USB or EtherNet for quality traceability. If subsequent rejects are detected, the operators can use the underwater leak tester to find where it leaks. Based on the observation, they can make adjustments to the machine to ensure that the next batch of products are properly sealed.
As this vacuum decay leak tester is non-destructive, the packages can be returned to the production line if they pass the test. Therefore, it eliminates the production waste, more environmental-friendly and allows the manufacturers to enjoy a better return of investment. One of our customers reported that this machine has decreased their wasted product to such an extent that the TSE6086b’s food packaging leak testing equipment had paid for themselves well within the year of purchase.
In testing this way the customer was able to eliminate the need for testing in buckets of water, and discover packing-machine faults soon after they occurred. This decreased their wasted product to such an extent that the TSE6086b’s had paid for themselves well within the year of purchase.
