Food Sachet Packaging Leak Testing

Sachet Seal Integrity Testing

Food packaging in sachets has allowed food and snack manufacturers to be able to pack their food and distribute it across a wide network. The quality and integrity of the seals in the sachet package are vital to the success and growth of the manufacturers. Our wide range of food sachet packaging leak testing equipment at SealTick offers an accurate and reliable method of conducting the sachet seal integrity testing.

SealTick - Experts in Sachet Seal Integrity Testing

Generally, manufacturers introduces inert, filler gases to the packaging to help preserve the food without the need for chemical preservatives.. These MAP-modified atmosphere packaging involves the flushing out of gases in the sachets and filling them with inert gases such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide. Inert gases are used as oxygen in the air is an agent that promotes the deterioration and decomposition of food products

Compromised seal integrity will introduce air/ oxygen into the packages which will compromise the products. Therefore, leaking seals should be detected before the products are packed and shipped to the consumers. If the compromised products made their way to the supermarket shelves or the consumers, they will find that the products have already been damaged. This will ultimately tarnish the company’s image which will bring massive loss of revenue to themanufacturers. They may also need to recall the damaged product batch from the market, procure massive waste and they may not be able to regain the consumers’ trust and credibility

Sealtick helps the manufacturers to avoid these incidents by offering a fast and reliable packaging leak testing equipment. Our packaging leak testing equipment can be easily integrated in the production environment and have long service life with minimal maintenance.

Seal integrity testing for Sachet seal packaging can be conducted with either non-destructive vacuum decay leak tester or underwater leak tester, such as SealTick’s TSE6086b Flexible Package Integrity Tester and TSE2032 Water Bath Integrity Tester.

Features of TSE6086b Flexible Package Integrity Tester

Designed to fit a wide range of food sachet packages, our TSE6086b Flexible Package Integrity Tester is a semi-automated leak testing machine that does not stress the food sachets and less operator reliant. The tests are finished in less than 20 seconds and the packaging that passes the test can be returned to the production line packaging:
Capable of detecting holes as small as 10 microns in diameter.

  • Non-destructive testing means the tested sample is not wasted
  • High return of investment due to less waste
  • Suitable for testing packaging with a headspace or MAP gases.
  • Test results are objective and not operator-reliant.
  • Quantitative leak measurement with capability for data storage for quality traceability

Features of TSE2032 Water Bath Integrity Teste

TSE2032 Underwater leak Tester is a traditional water bath based vacuum leak tester for sachet seal integrity testing. It is still a widely-used test method in food sachet packaging leak testing due to its effectiveness and accuracy in finding the exact location of the leak.
  • The sachets or packages are submerged in an acrylic container water bath and put under vacuum. Multiple packages can be tested simultaneously
  • Leaks, if present, will be demonstrated by the stream of bubbles rising from the location of leak.
The Sealtick TSE2032 is best used in conjunction with the non-destructive TSE6086b leak tester. Operators can first use the non-destructive leak tester as primary testing method to check the seal integrity of their products in the production line. For the products that fail the test, operators can put these packages into the underwater leak tester to determine the location of leaks. They can then pass this information to the sealing or packaging department to make adjustment to the machine to avoid leaks in the next batch of products. This process will ensure minimum product wastage, which means the company can enjoy a better RoI.
